FREE Musical theatre under the stars thanks to the Town of Clifton Park who has sponsored NSCP’s work for 13 years!
“An affectionate paean to Smalltown, U.S.A. of a bygone era, Meredith Willson’s THE MUSIC MAN follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band he vows to organize – this despite the fact he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain’s fall.” (Music Theatre International MTI)
Director, Debbie May, a guidance counselor at Scotia Glenville SD and a Clifton Park resident, has directed 5 previous shows for NSCP and was the lead in BINGO, the winning musical at the Library in April and featured in OLIVER! our 2012 production at the Common Stage. “With a cast of 60, managing all the conflicts in actors schedules presents the most difficult challenge in mounting a show of this magnitude”, said Debbie. “However, the end product is always worth the hassle and brings such joy to all involved.”
NSCP is pleased to have Jerry Gretzinger (WRGB News Anchor) in the role of Harold Hill. “I love this role and have wanted to do it for sometime. The added plus in working with NSCP, is that all my children are in the show too! I look forward to a great show with many fond memories to hold onto.”, said Jerry. Heather-Liz Copps, a Shen graduate with a BA from Marymount Manhattan and an MA from Catholic University, will play the role of Marion, the librarian. Both Heather and Jerry are Clifton Park residents.
